Most traditional business brokers will charge an up-front valuation fee of from $1,500 to $5,000 and then charge a sales commission of from 10% to 12% of the total sales price. You end up giving the broker about 15% of the total value of your company. That's quite a chunk!

They already are comfortable with the fair value of their business and have no need for a valuation to be prepared. These clients jump right into Phase II and incur no fee for Phase I.


They do not know the fair value of their business and will only sell if they believe the value is high enough to warrant it. In this case, Phase I is conducted and we move to Phase II only if the value is acceptable to them. Otherwise, we end at Phase I.


They do not know the fair value of their business, but want to sell regardless. In this case, we complete Phase I and immediately move into Phase II after completion.
